Joining The Boost Gang

I am huge trainer/sneaker fan, I love Stan Smith’s, NMD’s, Comme Des Garçons, Ultra Boost, Yeezy’s, the list goes on… I’ve wanted to grab myself a pair of Adidas with ‘Boost’ for a good while, but, I’ve always waited out, hoping I’d manage to snatch a pair of the latest Yeezy 350’s. Unfortunately, like most, I’ve taken an L every damn time (If anyone wants to hook me up, I’m a UK 8).

So, when I was doing a bit of shopping in St. Ives last month I could not resist when I spotted a pair of Uncaged Ultra Boost, in my size, in the window of one of my favourites stores – Number 8.

I picked up the boost in the “collegiate” colourway, at retail price (£130) and was super keen to see whether the boost sole lived up to its hype. I love the silhouette and design of the shoe, particularly the prime-knit upper, which hugs my ankles. I’ve been wearing them loads. And, yes, they are insanely comfy.

Ignoring the hype that surrounds the boost sole I would honestly say they’re the comfiest shoes I’ve worn. As well a the awesome aesthetic, they’re super light and you almost don’t feel like you’ve got shoes on! I hugely recommend the boost sole and can safely say it won’t be my last pair.

A few things you should pick up right now

Spliced Graphic Tee

Metal and Rock T-Shirts, particularly these spliced style tops have been popping up all over the place recently, from Jaden Smith’s Instagram feed to fashion week runways and I love them.

The T-Shirts are are great way to mix up graphic prints and add a little extra detail into your look, rather than a typical (but still very cool) band tee. I got mine from Topman and have been loving wearing it with some ripped up denim and chelsea boots for a Saint Laurent x Vetements inspired look.

I think they’re a great Winter – Spring transition piece, as they’re perfect to wear solo, on warmer days or layered up with a shirt, hoodie, jacket etc. on the cooler days.

They’re a streetwear staple and so versatile, they are another piece you can see in high-street stores but also in high-end stores like Saint Laurent – one of my favourites is their distressed plaid shirt, with bleach splatters all over it’s super unique and an awesome piece.

I picked up mine from River Island, and it’s on in the sale for just £8 – so if you’re after one go grab it – here! I was surprised at how good the quality was – it has a really thick, soft material and a great shape. I’ve been wearing it loads, but in a tonne of different styles.

They are super easy to layer and I’ve been wearing it over hoodies, between pieces like a t-shirt and denim jacket, where it hangs below the waistline, creating a really nice layered look, and also with it tied around my waist.

Orange IS the new black & is taking over my Instagram feed with a haul of streetwear enthusiasts infusing some orange pieces into their looks. I’m a huge fan.

I think orange pieces work amazingly with an otherwise monochrome look & they are a great way to add some colour and make your look stand out. Perfect for the Spring/Summer season we’re heading into.

I really like this oversized orange hoodie and it’s a super affordable price, especially compared with a Balmain version which would set you back £400+.

What I Wore To London Fashion Week AW17

Today is the final day of London Fashion Week AW17, this weekend I was lucky enough to attend LFW for the first two days, as a Christmas present from my girlfriend. I had a great time capturing street style images outside of 180 The Strand (Home of LFW) and an amazing evening watching the Joshua Kane AW17 Show held at the London Palladium.

I love seeing what my favourite style influencers, bloggers and celebrities wear to Fashion Week so I thought that I would share my own outfits from the two days I was there. I kept to my personal casual streetwear style, and was really pleased with my looks.

Winter Streetwear OOTD

Jacket – Ralph Lauren (Sold Out) / Hoodie – Pablo (Sold Out) / Jeans – Boohoo Men’s / Hat – Topman / Shoes – Adidas Stan Smith / Rucksack – Lacoste (Sold Out)

A/W Fashion is my favourite simply because you can wear more clothes, which means layers and in my opinion, much better outfits, in Summer you typically pair 2/3 items whereas in A/W you start pushing 5/6 pieces within one look, it also allows for the addition of coats and jackets, which are my ultimate weakness – I just can’t have enough.

Winter in England has been fairly mild this year, so this has been one of my go-to outfits, a few layers but still a fairly light jacket and on the colder days paired with a hat. The base of this look is a pair of washed black biker jeans – a favourite of mine because the texture helps create a more interesting look than basic black jeans. I then chose my black Pablo hoodie (with any top underneath, but if you’re looking to add even more layers I would suggest a striped or white longline t-shirt that drops just below the hoodie) – the base of this look is fairly simple but the addition of accessories like a hat and jacket bring it all together into a more solid look.

The jacket I put with this outfit is my favourite jacket from my collection… it’s a navy embroidered bomber jacket from Ralph Lauren and I adore it! I think it’s a perfect streetwear item, especially with embroidery being so popular at the moment with brands such as Gucci –  I am always wearing it so it was 100% a worthwhile purchase. Another accessory I added to this outfit was my fur beanie, the bright orange fur worked perfectly with the colours of the embroidery on the jacket and I love it’s addition to this look. To finish off the look I wore clean white Stan Smith trainers, simply because they’re super comfy and work perfectly with any casual look.

This outfit, as I said, is definitely one of my go-to winter looks, it’s got plenty of layer to keep you warm and also has a great sense of streetwear style, the puffy bomber jacket and hoodie creating the perfect streetwear silhouette.

Tour Merch Collection

Tour and band merchandise is a major pop culture trend at the moment, it would be difficult to go out and not see someone wearing it, from regular people to high profile celebrities. It’s safe to say it’s ‘in’!

Personally, I love tour merch style, often being slightly oversized, with unique and interesting, sometimes controversial graphics; and my collection is growing and some pieces are definitely becoming some of my favourites in my wardrobe, so I thought I’d give you a little insight into what I have and what I’m loving…

The Stones

Possibly one of the most iconic graphics of all time, the Rolling Stones logo, instantly recognisable and always stylish. “Band Tees” are unmissable these days and I picked this one up from Bershka. It is slightly longline and has a ripped style hem and sleeves, perfect to wear with some black biker jeans, and an oversized denim jacket for an easy street style look, that you can throw on quickly but still look great. If you’re not a fan of The Stones T-Shirt you can find loads of alternative band tops in stores like Urban Outfitters.

Anti World Tour

The most controversial and bold pieces in my collection – Rihanna’s Anti World Tour T-Shirt. I love this style of band merchandise, featuring a bold image on the front, with bright text and the venues/dates on the back! I picked up this Anti World Tour top at V-Festival in Summer and I love the fit and colour, it’s another throw on piece that can make a great outfit!

Undoubtedly one of, if not the most hyped up merchandise stores of the year… Pablo Merch! Kanye West’s designs and style are recognisable globally and the exclusivity of these collections (being sold once in worldwide pop up stores) make them even more desirable. The Pablo hoodie is by far my favourite piece of merchandise in my collection – it’s super versatile, pairing it with some black jeans and and sneakers to keep it casual or alternatively some chelsea boots and a wool coat to smarten it up! Either way, I love it and I imagine I’ll be wearing it a lot over the Winter season.

Converse x CDG

Image OneImage ThreeImage Four

If you’re anything like me, you probably follow a lot of streetwear accounts on Instagram and Twitter etc. If that’s true then you’ll most likely have seen these shoes before; they’re the 70’s style Chuck Taylor’s created in collaboration with Comme des Garçons.

I love these shoes and have wanted them for a while, so when my old pair of converse had seen better days I decided I would upgrade and get myself a pair. They come in two colour-ways (black and off white) and also in both low top and high top styles. I went with the low top, off white variation because in the past I’ve found low tops more comfortable and I thought the colour would go with absolutely everything… you can’t really go wrong! Although I definitely have my eyes on the black pair now too.

Being based on the original 70’s Chuck Taylor’s, the CDG’s have a higher rubber sole as well as more padding inside the shoe, making them more comfortable and durable than your standard converse. After having them several months they have become a staple and wearing them often I am really pleased with the condition they’ve stayed in – being a pale colour I was worried they would be ruined within weeks but they clean up really well and still look in new condition.

If you’re thinking about getting a pair of Converse x CDG I would 100% recommend them. My favourite part of the shoe is the contrast stipe that goes up the back of the shoe, it makes them different to other Converse and I really like that! They’re definitely my favourite shoe in my collection at the moment and I hope to get the black pair eventually as well.

I am back!

It seems like an eternity since I uploaded onto this blog, but I am finally back! I’ve missed blogging every week but I am also really glad I had a break, I began feeling uninspired by what I was producing and not enjoying it as much. Each week I felt the content was very much the same and that wasn’t what I wanted.  (more…)
