My Current Favourites

I thought I’d start the blog back up by curating a few of my favourite things right now….

1. First up is Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque and their Men’s Lip Balm! The mask, I got a sample of at the start of the month when I was doing some shopping in Kiehl’s and I will 110% be purchasing the full-size tub. This is a moisturising masque that you apply after cleansing your skin and leave on overnight. It’s aim is to “replenish your skin’s water reserves”. I’ve always struggled with my skin and my T-Zone can often get very dry, but after using this product my skin genuinely felt so hydrated and refreshed it was great! I used it around 3 nights a week and the results were really visible and I honestly think it’s cleared up my skin, a lot. The lip balm is also super hydrating and stays matte, which is exactly what I need, especially in the cold weather right now.

2. Next, is this Louis Vuitton card holder, its made with their traditional leather and embossed with a Volez Voguez Voyagez design, which I love! It can fit about two cards in which is perfect for nights out when I don’t want too much bulk in my pockets! And, I got it as a freebie because my parcel was delayed which makes it even more amazing.

3. Crep Protect is my 3rd current favourite. I’m such a lover of trainers and shoes in general and this stuff keeps them protected so well! I managed to keep my new NMD’s really fresh, even in the rainy UK weather! I got a gift set with their cleaning solution and wipes and they’re also super helpful for if I do get my shoes dirty. Since having them I always have a couple wipes in my backpack for emergencies!

4. Finally, a bit of reading for you all… I loved “The subtle art of not giving a fuck” by Mark Manson. I read it whilst on holiday in Lanzarote in January and it was a really refreshing perspective to start the year! I’d 100% recommend it!

On the same refreshing wavelength, I’m super happy to be back to my blog and I’m keen to work hard and produce some really great fashion and travel content so stay tuned through 2018 and be sure to follow my social media channels (Links in sidebar).

A Few Product Empties

If you’re somebody who reads a lot of blogs you may have seen this kind of post done before but if you’re not then I will explain… A product empties post is simply a blog post that features a number of products, be it skincare, aftershave etc, that have all ran out, but you know for sure you’d rush back to and pick them up again.

I love these kind of posts as you can get an idea of how good or bad a product is after someone has used it for a while, rather than when they’ve first bought it. So, I thought I would share with you a few of mine…

Aftershave –

I decided to feature 2 aftershaves that I have recently ran out of, the first is ‘Tommy’ by Tommy Hilfiger, this is a product I have mentioned before on my blog, and I decided to included it again because, well, I bought it again! I love the fresh scent that you get when wearing ‘Tommy’ and I feel it is a perfect everyday aftershave.

Secondly, is Abercrombie & Fitch’s ‘Fierce’ cologne, which I purchased whilst in America. This aftershave has a heavier scent than Tommy which is why I chose to mainly wear this when going out, as opposed to everyday use. It has a fairly intense masculine scent that really does last all day! I could not fault this aftershave for how long the scent lasts and it’s definitely one I’d get again!

Skincare –

First up, Kiehl’s Facial Fuel, Skin Buffer for men. This is a product that I have been using daily to wash my face for about 6 months now and when it ran out I went out and bought a new one straight away! This is honestly one of the best face washes I have used. It exfoliates well, cleans well and leaves you feeling really fresh faced, which is all you can ever want really. If you’re struggling to find an all round good face wash I’d definitely suggest Kiehl’s, they’re on the more expensive side but 100% worth it.

Next, Ursa Major’s ‘Fortifying Face Balm’.  For those who have been reading my blog a while then you may remember that I featured Ursa Major in a blog post a few months ago. They have a great range of all natural skincare, aimed at adventurers and travellers! Their moisturiser is awesome, I tend to find that a lot of moisturisers leave me feeling shiny and oily and this really puts me off using them, even though I really should. Which is why I love the Ursa Major face balm, it smells great and leaves my skin with a matte finish, which is great. Mine has just ran out and I will be ordering a new one soon, for sure!

The final product in the skincare sections is Clinique’s ‘Anti-Blemish Solution’. No matter what skincare routine I have I always seem to get the odd spot every now and then which is when I use this awesome product. Simply, it’s a spot zapper. But it is the best I’ve used. I can hands downs say that this product has removed some of my spots in a night, it works quickly and effectively and I don’t think I will ever not be re-buying this product.

Haircare –

In this section is Bumble & Bumble’s ‘Surf Spray’. My bottle of this spray has been empty, sadly, for about a month now because I haven’t had chance to grab a new bottle. But, I NEED TO. I have naturally curly hair anyway but I love to emphasise the curls and make them more structured using a salt spray and the bumble and bumble spray is by far the best I’ve ever used. It comes at a higher price than most but you’re paying for quality and you certainly get it with this product!

Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetA couple of months back I found Ursa Major, an awesome, completely natural skin care brand who develop products that are perfect for your average adventurist. After exchanging a few emails I received an awesome package from across the pond which included The Traveller’s Skin Care Kit and Live Major Bandana.

The skin care kit is the perfect size to chuck in a weekend bag before you go out and explore! It has all of the essentials that you’d need for a spontaneous trip: Face wash, Shave cream, Face balm and 5 Face wipes. All of the products are naturally sourced and made and they are super amazing on the skin. I’ve loved using them and have 100% seen an improvement in my skin. The wipes are perfect for when you’re out and about exploring the globe. They’re really refreshing and clean up your face nicely, leaving a fresh scent behind too!

Normally, I use a bowl and shaving brush when shaving but when I’m away the shave cream in this pack is ideal and still gives a really good shave. The bandana is a great extra product from Ursa Major and it’s perfect to wear when you’re exploring, even if it is just to look the part. It’s also a perfect summer essential.

All of the products in this pack are available to buy separately as well and I love each of them. They’re fresh and don’t put anything harmful into your skin, which is exactly what you want in the perfect skin care product. I would 100% recommend Ursa Major products to anyone looking for some natural, fresh, high-quality skin care. Even if you’re not an adventurist I’d give them, they’re an awesome brand! You can check out a sample set here to give the products a try yourself. Also follow @ursamajorvt on Instagram to see what adventures this awesome brand get up to.

Mens Skincare Routine

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 preset

I always take good care of my skin, but I’ve never had a set routine that I’ve kept to. So, as it’s now 2015 I’ve decided to create a bit of skincare routine to make sure my skin is always looking and feeling clean and healthy.

Where To Start…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetI wash my face every morning using Bull Dog’s Original Face Wash. I’ve used this face wash for a while and find it leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed, without being harsh, or leaving your skin dry, which I’ve found a lot of products can do.

Next I apply Bull Dog’s Original moisturiser. Until recently I’d never used moisturiser on my skin but during the winter it got pretty dry. Instead of searching round for a moisturiser I decided to stick with Bull Dog and I’m really happy with my choice.

After A Long Day…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetIt’s really important to wash your face at the end of the day too, so you’re not sleeping with the days dirt on your skin. But after a long day I’m never normally in the mood to start running a bowl of water and washing my face; as an alternative I wash my face using Lush’s Breath Of Fresh Air Toner Water, you can simply spray it on your skin and rub it in using your hands and it washes away the dirt on your skin. I normally apply this a couple of times to be completely clean.

Everyone suffers from spots, and targeting them can be difficult, but I’ve found that Lush’s Grease Lightning is an excellent spot treatment. It never fails to clear my spots, within a few days.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetOver the winter my lips can get really dry, no matter how much water I drank they just didn’t stop being dry. So I got a lip balm. I decided to go for Carmex’s Classic Moisturising Lip Balm because I’ve always heard good reviews. After using it a couple of times there were instant results, and I’m going to continue using it as part of my skincare routine.

Uncle Peter’s Man

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetUncle Peter’s Man all started when the founder Young and her husband started to make skin care products for themselves, because they were struggling to find natural skin care alternatives. Awareness of toxic chemicals in the big branded products was becoming increasingly high. And the passion for making natural skin care became their obsession and they decided to start a company that represented their key values.

ALL of their products are made in small batches. ALL of their products are hand-crafted. And ALL of their ingredients are premium, meaning they can develop the best quality products possible. Each product they create is made with multi-purpose usage in mind. Simplicity is key in a men’s skin care routine and that’s why I love them!

When Uncle Peter’s Man sent me a bundle of their products, all the way from Canada, I was super excited to try them out and let you guys know what I thought. So without further ado I present to you…

The Double Duty Soldier Scrub:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetThis is Uncle Peter’s scrub and shave product. It has a double use, hence the name, and I was honestly so surprised when I used it. It is incredible! I’ve never had awful skin, occasionally it gets dry but this face scrub has made it amazingly soft. It’s no lie when they say it’ll keep you stroking your face. It smells awesome and it really leaves you feeling fresh, rejuvenated and ready for the day ahead. As for its shave… Just the same. Incredible. This product gives a really great, easy, smooth shave and I will be continuing to use it as my face wash and shave product! I love it and I genuinely get excited when I need a shave.

The 3PETE 416 & 647:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetThis is Uncle Peter’s 3 in 1 formula that does it all. Use it to quench your face as a moisturizer, rub it into your beard to soften your whiskers, and even just as your aftershave. It leaves your face feeling softer than a baby’s bum. This product comes in two scents. The 416 which is a warm, woodsy, comforting scent. And the 647, it’s bright, citrus and zesty. I love both but my personal favourite is the 416. I’ve been using them after I shave and they really sooth your face and leave it feeling great.

I also got my dad to test out the products so I could give you two points of view, and what they’re like on different types of skin. Obviously his skin is more aged than mine and he said that he really loved the products and they enabled a great smooth shave and left the skin feeling extremely soft.

I would without a doubt recommend all of Uncle Peter’s products. They’re just as good as they say, if not better! I think they’re essential for any guys skin care routine, purely because of their simplicity and high quality. Be sure to check out their website and their Facebook/Instagram/Twitter

As every teenager does, I get bad skin, constant outbreaks of spots all over my face. It’s annoying. However recently I’ve found my skin has been much cleaner, healthier and less spotty. This is because I’ve started to use LUSH products for my skin. After going into the shop and speaking to the lovely staff there I left with 4 items for my skin: Fresh Farmacy; Tea Tree Water; Grease Lightning and Tea Tree Toner Tabs.

Fresh Farmacy:

‘Fresh Farmacy’ is a skin cleanser, it’s just like a big triangular chunk of soap, and I wash my face with it twice daily. It’s excellent. I bought a 100g block of the cleanser and it has easily lasted a good 3 months and you can really tell it washes your face well, getting rid of the dirt properly leaving your face squeaky clean after rinsing the soap off.

Tea Tree Water:

‘Tea Tree Water’ is one of LUSH’s toner waters. The staff in LUSH recommended that I used a few sprays of the Tea Tree Water directly on my face, after washing to ensure all the dirt was gone and to keep away bacteria that causes spots. The LUSH toner waters can also be used at anytime of the day to refresh skin and for girls remove their makeup at the end of the day.

Grease Lightning:

‘Grease Lightning’ is a spot treatment from LUSH and it comes in the form of a gel. I use Grease Lightning at night after washing my face and I put it directly onto my spots. It works amazingly, depending on the spot size it normally works within 1-2 days. Grease Lightning can be put on spots as regularly as you like throughout the day, I just choose to use it before I go to bed.

Tea Tree Toner Tabs:

This is the second tea tree product I have from LUSH. However, I only use the Toner Tabs once a month just to refresh my skin and it always leaves it feeling 100% clean and healthy. To use the Toner Tabs you have to place one in a bowl of boiling water and steam your face over it, once the water is cooled you can use a flannel to rinse your face with the remaining water.

I would recommend all of these products from LUSH, they have helped my skin so much from the day I started using them. Although LUSH is quite an expensive shop I would say that the products are well worth the money and definitely do what they’re supposed to. Also, I’m sure a lot of you are thinking that LUSH is for girls, but really most of the LUSH products are 100% unisex, so go ahead, try it out!
